Why choose this tournament?
--It is unique. This rugby tournament happens right in the middle of one of the biggest Celtic Festivals in the West.
--Entertainment all day. The Rio Grande Valley Celtic Festival and Highland Athletic Games will ensure that between your rugby games, there will be plenty of entertainment. Watch Irish Hurling, Gaelic Football Exhibitions, Highland Games (Caber Toss, Hammer Throw, etc.). Visit multiple stages featuring Celtic music, piping, and dancing.
--Timing. This social tournament is scheduled early in the summer Seven’s season, giving teams the opportunity to try out their new Sevens line-up in a fun, casual, and festive environment. Great way to end your regular 15s season by getting everyone motivated for Sevens. Average temperature in Albuquerque at this time is about 82 degrees. Perfect!
--Food and Beverages. A traditional Beer Garden running all day. Multiple food vendors at the festival ensure a variety of great edibles food so you don’t have to worry about leaving the pitches to eat. Food for the Ruggers (while it lasts) at the Social and great beer prices all night.
--Location and Affordability. Albuquerque is centrally located in the Southwest and is easy to get to, driving or flying. Discount hotel prices will be arranged for traveling teams. We have kept our entry fees lows make this affordable for everyone and the entry fee includes entry to the Celtic Festival events.
--Great Grass Pitches. Balloon Fiesta Park has beautiful pitches with views of the Sandia Mountains, plenty of convenient parking, and excellent facilities.
--Exhibition Rugby. Rhino’s Match for the big guys (220 lb+) Celtic Warrior Women’s Match- in costume and war paint. (Think Xena Warrior Princess playing rugby- Awesome!)
--Our Social rocks. Lots of traditional rugby singing, beer, food.
--Bag pipes and more bag pipes. Come on…you know you love it.
